Welcome to Essencia

Esencia is the second village in Rancho Mission Viejo, with construction beginning in 2017 and continuing to the present. The neighborhoods are set along west-facing hillsides, offering sweeping views of the coast as well as the surrounding backcountry.
 
Once complete, Esencia is projected to feature approximately 2,810 attached and detached homes spread across about 35 unique neighborhoods. This includes up to a dozen non-gated Gavilán neighborhoods designed primarily for residents aged 55 and older, consisting mostly of single-level homes. Additionally, between 250 and 500 apartment residences are planned within the village.
 
At the heart of Esencia is the Hilltop Club, a central recreational and social hub. This clubhouse includes a fitness center, swimming pool, spa, arcade, bar, lounge, and a spacious event lawn. Another key community feature is The Canyon House, Esencia’s own coffee shop, which also offers meeting and event spaces, a catering kitchen, an activity lawn, and an open-air courtyard overlooking a scenic, oak-filled canyon with hiking trails and panoramic viewpoints.
 
Within walking distance is Esencia Farm, home to a mix of in-ground row crops, fruit trees, raised planter beds, a harvest and prep barn, a chicken coop, and a greenhouse.
 
Opening in summer 2020, the Esencia Sports Park is set to include multiple athletic fields, a community plunge pool, a children’s splash pad, and versatile courts for tennis and other activities. Esencia School, a K–8 campus within the Capistrano Unified School District, is located nearby and includes an adjacent community park. About 50 acres have been designated for commercial development at Esencia, with plans for retail shops, restaurants, professional and medical offices, and other services.
 
For pet owners, Esencia also features South Paw, a dedicated dog park with separate areas for small and large dogs.
